Poems Prayers And Promises

[ D ] i’ve been lately thinking about [ G ] my life’s [ D ] time all the things i’ve done and how it’s [ G ] been [ D ] and i can’t help believing in my [ G ] own mind [ D ] i know i’m gonna hate to see it [ G ] end [ D ] i’ve seen a lot of sunshine [ G ] slept out in the [ D ] rain spent a night or two all on my [ G ] own [ D ] i’ve known my lady’s pleasures [ G ] had myself some [ D ] friends and spent a night or two in my own [ G ] home [ G ] and i have to say it [ A7 ] now it’s been A [ D ] goodlife all in [ G ] all it’s really [ D ] fine to have A [ Em ] chance to hang [ A7 ] around and [ Em ] lie there by the [ G ] fire and [ D ] watch the evening [ G ] tire while all my [ D ] friends and my old [ Bm7 ] lady sit and [ Em ] pass the pipe [ A7 ] around and talk of [ G ] poems and prayers and promis [ Fm ] es and [ G ] things that we believe [ D ] in how sweet it is to [ Em ] love someone how [ G ] right it is to [ A7 ] care how [ G ] long it’s been since [ Fm ] yesterday and [ Em ] what about [ D ] tomorrow and what about our [ Fm ] dreams and all the [ G ] memories we [ A7 ] share [ D ] [ G ] [ D ] the [ D ] days they pass so quickly now [ G ] nights are seldom [ D ] long and time around me whispers when it’s [ G ] cold the [ D ] changes somehow frighten me [ G ] still i have to [ D ] smile it turns me on to think of growing [ G ] old [ D ] for though my life’s been good to me there’s [ G ] still so much to [ D ] do so many things my mind has never [ G ] known i’d [ D ] like to raise a family i’d [ G ] like to sail [ D ] away and dance across the mountains on the [ G ] moon [ G ] and i have to say it [ A7 ] now it’s been A [ D ] goodlife all in [ G ] all it’s really [ D ] fine to have A [ Em ] chance to hang [ A7 ] around and [ Em ] lie there by the [ G ] fire and [ D ] watch the evening [ G ] tire while all my [ D ] friends and my old [ Bm7 ] lady sit and [ Em ] pass the pipe [ A7 ] around and talk of [ G ] poems and prayers and promis [ Fm ] es and [ G ] things that we believe [ D ] in how sweet it is to [ Em ] love someone how [ G ] right it is to [ A7 ] care how [ G ] long it’s been since [ Fm ] yesterday and [ Em ] what about [ D ] tomorrow and what about our [ Fm ] dreams and all the [ G ] memories we [ A7 ] share
